Tuesday Morning, Voting Day
Monday Morning back to work
No jobs in town so I’ve gotta drive an hour
Stop and go now my head hurts
Trees clear cut by the road
A grocery store and some chain restaurants
They say that’s where they’ll go
But I probably won’t go there
Not with traffic the way that it is
And I probably couldn’t afford it
Not with all the prices the way they’ve been
I work a lot more than I’m paid
20 bucks and hour doesn’t go that far
But I wanna go far some day
Dream of owning my own place
But there’s nothing left after paying rent
Hard to save at this pace
Then I do it all again in reverse
Fighting traffic all through town
I just wanna eat and sleep and curse
Time to turn this ship around
Tuesday morning voting day
Ain’t got much time but i’m gonna make it work
10 minutes and I’m on my way
I voted for a dream
Of a city led by women and men
Who build for you and me
And I voted for a guy named trent
And I voted for this Gopi dude
And I voted for a Martha Jean
And I hope you’ll vote for them too
Maybe in a year or three
I’ll finally earn that brand new house
That belongs to only me
I could walk or bike to work
See the trees grow tall shed their leaves in fall
A new sidewalk never hurts
And I voted for a dream I dreamed
And we made that dream come true
And I really feel like I belong
And I really hope that you, do too
It don’t have to be a dream
Come and raise your hand for a smart growth plan
Vote for Trent Gopi Martha Jean
